I started my Drama career with a years Traineeship on BBC’s Casualty. This was a fantastic experience because it gave me the opportunity of working with a different Sound Mixer every ten days so you get a great idea of how different people work and choose the methods you think are most effective from each Boom Op and Mixer. It was also great to learn how to work on a purpose built set with tie lines and production feeds.

.

I went from Casualty to assist on Judge John Deed with Malcolm Hirst.  This was my first experience of a Sound Devices recorder but I was very busy second booming a lot of the time and got frustrated that I never had time to sit down with Malcolm and see how it worked. This helped make my decision to study at the Film School to learn what was happening at the Recorder end.

Since JJD I have been covering 1st Boom on Casualty, Torchwood and Skins when needed and have had 12 of my own blocks of BBC’s Doctors.

This was my first TV credit, I haven’t taken photo’s of them all, honest!!

After completing my course at the NFTS I assisted on New Tricks for 5 weeks in an effort to prove I am more than an assistant now, this plan paid off and every job I had in the year folowing the NFTS  has been 1st Boom, this includes 2 micro budget feature films, A childrens puppet tv show and series 5 of the Channel 4 series "Skins"!
