Jo Vale - Boom Operator

I have recently graduated from the National Film and Television School where I was studying Location Sound Recording. Whilst there I learnt many skills ranging from using many types of  hard disc recorders to operating a Fisher Boom. I am keen to do  Documentaries and Drama and am looking for work in these areas.

Since graduating I have Boomed two Feature Films, "Booked Out" working with John Crossland and "Peter" which Merv Gerrard mixed! This has been a brilliant 9 weeks, both shoots were challenging but I feel I achieved a lot! I now have 4 weeks booked in June on   the childrens TV series "Bookaboo" with Malcolm Hirst which I am very much looking forward too! I am currently available for work between the 8th of may 2010 and the 1st of June!

Background:

I discovered my passion for sound whilst working in a recording studio at university and since then I have managed to develop skills in many different areas. I have mixed radio    plays and live television and boomed on numerous TV dramas including Doctors and Casualty. Whilst training at The National Film School I gained experience on a Fisher Boom as well as learning to record and mix on many different machines.

I am hard working and keen to learn different methods working with different people. I love Booming and hope my career takes me onto great things! I would also love to work on Documentaries, I have recorded 2 during my time at NFTS and both have involved a lot of engagement with the participants,  I feel my personality is well suited to the doco sound mixer role to relate to people quickly and easily! I am friendly and easy to get on with! I   have my own car and am available to work in any area now but I am based in Ealing.

In my spare time I enjoy rowing and going to the gym which helps my strength for those   long scenes on long poles! and ice skating just because it’s really fun!!
